Over the past two weeks, unDivided aired in-depth interviews celebrating six “Truth Tellers” in our communities. From mayors who reject performative politics, to a 17-time felon who pulled herself out of addiction, to a doctor who risked his license to push back against COVID mandates, to citizens who turned their frustrations into action – these “Truth Tellers” will inspire you to speak up, especially when the stakes are high.
Thank you to supporters for making this series possible. All six episodes are now available to the public below. unDivided will return Monday, March 26 with regularly scheduled episodes.
Truth Tellers Part 1: Mayor Dana Ralph
Kent (WA) Mayor Dana Ralph often finds her city suffering in the shadow of Seattle. Determined not to be pushed around, she has become an important voice on issues related to public safety and homelessness, rejecting political talking points in favor of what's best for the people she serves. Watch here.
Truth Tellers Part 2: Olga Sagan
The owner of Piroshky Piroshky Bakery in Seattle, Olga Sagan says "toxic" policies have left downtown in ruin. She is now considering a run for public office and wants to inspire other small business owners to speak out. Watch here.
Truth Tellers Part 3: Dr. Houman Hemmati
Dr. Houman Hemmati started speaking out against strict COVID mandates in California, even as the state passed a law criminalizing doctors who challenged mainstream scientific consensus. He is now focused on trying to prevent our country from repeating heavy-handed restrictions in the future. Watch here.
Truth Tellers Part 4: Andrea Suarez
A few years ago, Andrea Suarez was an apathetic Seattleite who admits she probably couldn't have named her city councilmember. Fast forward to 2023 and she runs a citizen-led group called We Heart Seattle and is working to disrupt the homeless industrial complex across North America. Watch here.
Truth Tellers Part 5: Mayor Jim Ferrell
Federal Way Mayor Jim Ferrell left the Republican Party in 2012, but now finds himself frustrated with how Democrats are handling the public safety crisis. He says a 2021 law limiting police pursuits "undermines common sense." Watch here.
Truth Tellers Part 6: Ginny Burton
Ginny Burton is a 17-time felon who spent 28 years in active addiction. In our interview, she rejects policies and movements that are enabling the personal destruction of people living on our streets. Watch here.
